Khadija had a pretty relaxed childhood, going to school in Zebueskaeya. Their parents worked in real estate, meaning they were fairly wealthy but would have to travel and even move quite often, forcing Khadija to switch schools a couple times. This made it difficult for them to keep friends, especially without any siblings to keep them company, so they picked up video gaming and watching video essays and streamers as solitary pastimes.

Right before they started high school, their parents announced that the family would be moving to Christophen to take advantage of a boom in the housing market, much to Khadija's dismay. "Mom, they're like, awful there."

"Oh honey, I'm sure the stuff we see on the news is biased. It can't be that bad."

"Mom, I'm non-binary, I'm not moving to Christophen!"

"I'll keep you safe. Nobody will lay a hand on you."

"You can't protect me forever!"

Their mother snorted and tapped her hoof before offering a warm smile. "I can damn well try." There was no convincing her. As much as she loved her child, Khadija would always remember that she was willing to put work before anything.

Upon Khadija's arrival in Christophen, the culture shock hit like a bus. Nobody nodded and waved at them on the street anymore. Nobody sang and danced with their friends as they did yardwork. Nobody's kids played in the streets. In fact, any vaguely annoying noise made in public would be quickly shut down by complaints, or even a call to the police for... "public disturbance", whatever that meant. An entire world of dull, thrumming, silent, choking grey. Even the houses looked the same. Khadija was met with only blank, tired, and occasionally hateful stares.

Their mother would support them when they came home from school crying about bullies, but any attempts at begging her to move back to Zebueskaeya were staunchly denied, sometimes melting from "no" to "...I can't. We can't. My job!". When they inevitably went to their father, they'd get an identical response.

The main advantage Khadija had over their peers was the assumption that they weren't a fluid Provincian speaker; on the contrary, they'd been learning Provincian since early childhood both in school and through the majority-Provincian internet. In fact, they spoke it better than their parents. So when someone would mutter something derogatory under their breath in the expectation that they wouldn't understand, they'd be met with an unexpected glare that would usually scare them off. But this was purely an act of show; Khadija hadn't a violent bone in their body.

Khadija graduated high school and immediately started looking to move out of Christophen, much to their parents' dismay. They ended up discovering that one of their favorite streamers, Roe, was running away from home and moving in with two other online friends in Silve. Their parents were willing to drive them over and meet Roe, Octane, and Diesel to ensure these are safe roommates, but they eventually agree that Khadija is an adult now and can decide to move in if they so wish. Khadija celebrated, and their parents told the four of them to let them know if they ever need anything.

Khadija starts making and selling soaps and bath bombs to contribute to the household bills, and being the youngest member of the household, they start pulling obnoxious younger sibilng antics on Octane while attempting to do something weird enough to make Roe make a facial expression (unsuccessfully). Once income for the household stabilizes, they start taking their roommates to local conventions and raves.

Khadija is a cape giraffe with relatively sparse splotching for their species, though they have also dyed their mane all sorts of colors up to and including the literal rainbow. Their long neck adds almost a foot to their height,

Khadija's style could be described as casually androgynous. They lean toward colorful graphic tees, cargo shorts, merch for media and online creators they enjoy.

♦ Khadija is the only one of their household of four that still has any sort of relationship with their parents, so their parents have come to see all four of them as family.

♦ Khadija's favorite band is Death Grips, an experimental and supposedly supernatural hip-hop group who represent themselves as dimension-hopping bipedal mostly-hairless primates they call "humans". They claim to have released their music in thirteen different realities, having toured in five.
